Fulfilling Day.

So...had a full Saturday, but that good kind of full. Alanna and I threw a Mother's day brunch for our moms and their lovely breakfast group. It was really fun to do something for them after they've done so much for us (loving us dearly, hosting many a bridal shower). And, we felt well prepared which made for a fun event over all. Here are a few photos of the event. And there's our outdoor picnic table in our dining room. We knew it would be too cold to eat outside and our dining room table is too small, so Alanna came up with the idea of bringing the picnic table inside. Zach knew as soon as this happened that it might become a more permanent fixture. I mean, seriously, how fun is it to eat at a picnic table INside?! And how fun is it to be able to fit eight people at a table rather than four? Zach informed us that his college roommate had one in his kitchen out of necessity, but it's so much cooler when it's a matter of choice and aesthetic. haha. So, fo...

What beauty.

I make a point to browse A Bryan Photo 's website every once in a while and check out their gorgeous, gorgeous wedding images. I love weddings (well known fact, I believe). Immensely. And I think their photos capture them in the most beautiful and natural way possible. Here are a few recent ones that are so great, all from different weddings (all these photos from their website or blog). Not even the best ones, either. So classic. Seriously, how cool does this look? Quite possibly the most gorgeous older woman I've ever seen (and a beautiful bride!). Oh, and I would kill for that jacket.

fun, fun.

The Reform School , a shop in the Silver Lake area of L.A., was a place we made a point to visit after reading about it in Dwell magazine. And, it was just as cool as we thought it would be! Here are a few of the prints we bought (photos from their website), which are hanging on our wall right now! We found a few other small things...their letterpress card selection was amazing and they even had Saipua soaps available! Check out their website for photos of their shop, which is super fun, including fluffy 3-D clouds in the window and pencils in the ceiling!

Book Finishing.

Finishing a book is quite possibly one of the best feelings in the world. Can I tell you why? Because I'm a book grazer. That's right. Often times I begin a book, leave it half unread and simply move to another. I find it quite a shameful quality. When people ask me if I've read a book, much of the time I am resigned to reply that I have "started it and enjoyed the portion I read." So, with that said, I will assure you that I have completely read the books in my posts unless otherwise stated. Here, I proudly share a few of my recent vacation reads...cover to cover, my friends. How Starbucks Saved My Life ...sometimes it felt a little repetitive but overall a good read and interesting story. Love and War was one of the best marriage books I've read so far. Lastly, I finally finished A Homemade Life , which was absolutely and utterly wonderful. You can't help but fall in love with all of her recipes and their beautiful stories. And I love her simp...

Calication.

Ever simply fall head over heels in love with a place? Well, it happened. I fell in love with Los Angeles (and it reminded me SO much of our Morocco). I love quite a few places for very different reasons, but this is one I did not expect. All my preconceived notions had led me to believe that I might enjoy L.A. and all it offers, but by no means would I fall in love. Where these "feelings" come from, I have yet to know, but experiences like these make me think I might need to chuck them out the window before touching ground. On the contrary, Zach and I thought we would love San Diego. And it was gorgeous. Beautiful, really. Clean. With wonderful food. But maybe it was the chill in the air, or the quiet calm in the atmosphere...it's like it just didn't take completely. That being said, it's a lovely place and would be great for a relaxing vacation. At the La Brea Tar Pits and LACMA. Dinner at Rosti in Santa Monica I loved these couches in Santa Monica...

Let's just say...

...I've really enjoyed California so far. We're on our second half of vacation right now in San Diego after a few days in LA. I will write more later, but here are a few pictures to give you a small taste. Yes, that is Gwyneth Paltrow.

Beautiful.

I want to know what goes on in a mind like this. A mind that is constantly producing beautiful things. By Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Co.
